Horticulture

Horticulture aims to provide the student with the skills that are necessary for the growth and care of a range of indoor and outdoor plants in the horticulture and floristry industries. The student will learn how to grow and care for a range of plants grown in containers, beds and hanging baskets. This will be done in a sustainable way, using organic methods wherever possible.

In Year 11 the student will study Caring for Plants and Flowers. In Year 12 they will study Growing Plants in a Sustainable Way.

The course is suitable for those who have an interest in pursuing a career in horticulture or floristry. It will encourage entrepreneurial activities such as the setting up of a small business for the sale of floral arrangements or containers and hanging baskets.

The course is 100% in-house controlled assessment with no end exam.
