10th ANNIVERSARY

OAKGROVE 2009

We were delighted to welcome everyone back to OakgroveIntegratedCollege for this year’s races. We hope you had an enjoyable day with us and that your runners had a wonderful sporting experience.

It was somewhat appropriate that the races came back to us on the 10th Anniversary and we hope that the event continues for many more years.

Our aim was simple: to encourage as many pupils to run as possible and highlight the sporting potential within the Integrated schools.

To this end, I feel that we were successful. The races were hard fought throughout and it was good to see so many runners returning this year again. Without belittling anyone’s efforts but reflecting all our efforts, I must point out the great rivalry but utmost respect between James Speight of Erne and JP Williamson of Oakgrove as one of the more enduring battles over the years and they didn’t let us down in the senior boys’ event.

I would also like to congratulate all the schools that took part for the effort, attitude and behaviour of all their pupils. They were a credit to your schools and a pleasure to talk to and organise throughout.

Thanks to all staff who accompanied their schools and a particular word of thanks to the PE staff at Oakgrove; Mildred Killen and the canteen staff ; to the Oakgrove 6th Form and to Roisin Lynch for her efforts in the results area.
